2003
Construction of an international space station marks an incredible leap for mankind. Scientists can conduct research on biology, physics, astronomy, and meteorology with long-term goals of developing the technology necessary for human-based space and planetary exploration, new ways to treat diseases, more efficient methods of producing materials, more accurate measurements than would be possible to achieve on Earth, and a more complete understanding of the Universe.
