This little rocking bird was chiseled from a piece of redwood found on the side of the road in Humboldt County. The wood was extremely hard and if I learned anything from the experience it's that I should never carve redwood by hand again. The garage smelled like redwood for days after I burned the designs, which was sorta nice.
